I AM EXCITED!!! I believe we are on the very edge of the spectacular; something supernaturally demonstrative. As we enter into a new decade, there is a sense of expectation within the Body of Christ. Prophetically, I sense that 2020 holds some real keys to seeing God’s move; most of all, I think the real key is our own posture of expectation.
It goes without saying, that the Church is in a crucial season of operating in it’s rightful place and position; being loud, not compromising, while at the same time, showing love and compassion to the world. It’s necessary to know that Jesus, though merciful, loving and compassionate, never backed down from who He was, nor why He was sent to the earth. Our key role, right now, is to know who we are, why we are here, and being the example of Christ in the earth.
In Matthew 16, Jesus asks His disciples a very important question; “who do people say that the Son of Man is?” In other words, “what are people saying about me”. The point of the question is not implying that Jesus doesn’t know who He is; but rather provoking a conversation to hear what the disciples thought, as well as others. It was as if there were rumors or assumptions as to who he was. Some thought Elijah, Moses, or a prophet; such descriptions didn’t seem to be uncommon in the culture. However, it was Peter’s declarative announcement that really drew the BIG response. Peter speaks up in verse 16 saying, “You are the Christ(the anointed Messiah), the Son of the living God. And Jesus said, “blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! Flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” Listen to what Jesus is saying when He describes the gates of hell will not prevail against the Church.
The definition of PREVAIL is, to gain ascendency through strength or superiority: TRIUMPH – In the greek, it’s the word, KATISCHUO, which means, JOINED FORCES TO OVERPOWER.
Jesus is saying, any evil thing, strategy, or demonic scheme that comes from hell will never, ever be able to withstand the supernatural, highly appointed and anointed BODY OF CHRIST. It’s a picture of God’s force of motion that cannot be stopped or destroyed, regardless of evil’s determination. The church of Jesus Christ is victorious and is the greatest power in the earth. Through His blood, and by His resurrection, we have all authority and power, and with Him, we reign – the key? IT IS TIME TO OPERATE IN THE AUTHORITY GIVEN! (MATTHEW 16:19)
In this new decade, we will see a supernatural shift and the Church will be victoriously displayed; it will be a preview of what is to come in the end. However, I do see it as a small window of favor, and will only last a short time. It will be vital what we as the Church do in this window. We must establish ourselves openly, not backing down from who we are and whose we are, by the blood of Jesus and the Word of God. We must be strong in the face of our opposers, prepared to demonstrate in the miraculous, as well as exemplifying Christ’s unconditional love to all people. It is also important that we excel in discerning of evil spirits and those influenced by them, not being afraid to confront, or cast them out. It is a crucial necessity that we recognize where God has positioned us, placing His people on least likely platforms and stages to speak His unfailing, incomparable TRUTH. We have the greatest opportunity, yet the greatest responsibility to do the right thing, state the right thing and be who we are called to be, knowing that there will always be haters and those who want to take away our voice and ultimately destroy us. As a matter of truth, even Jesus said, “If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first.” (John 15:18) In other words, it comes with the territory of being His Church.
So in reality, regardless of public opinions or negative influencers, if Jesus declared that we are His Church, and that the very gates of hell will never overpower or destroy us, then it is time that we act like it, live like it, and position ourselves in supernatural expectation of great victory. LET’S DO THIS NOW!
